O'Brien & Partners acquires Griffiths Green Arnold

Accountants and business advisers O’Brien & Partners based in Treforest, has acquired accountancy practice Griffiths Green Arnold of Cwmbran.
Managing Director of O’Brien & Partners, Lewis Van Emden, said: “The firm has grown organically over the last ten years by offering exceptional client service.
“Now, after a careful search for a suitable partner which shares our vision and ethos, we have found the perfect opportunity for expansion through acquisition.”
In particular, Lewis emphasises the importance of client service, stressing that the deal had been struck after long and careful consideration for the clients, workforce and long term aims of the business.
“The combination of the two offices takes our staff numbers to 30. The practice is big enough to have all the specialisms and technology required, yet not too large to lose the personal connection between senior staff and clients.
“Griffiths Green Arnold also works in this way, and seems to be the perfect fit.”
The expansion of the practice is timely as the tax regime in the UK undergoes a digital revolution. O’Brien & Partners has invested heavily in technology in readiness for HMRC’s Making Tax Digital initiative and Cloud accounting. The firm has taken on  a dedicated staff member advising clients in this area.
“It is essential that businesses and individuals understand the changing world of tax and what is expected of them,” commented Tax Director Mark Aherne. “We are putting considerable resources in place to make sure clients have the correct systems in place.”
Indeed, O’Brien & Partners is planning to make substantial investments in the new practice over the next few years to drive growth.
Principals of Griffiths Green Arnold will remain with the firm while the merger takes place. Lloyd Arnold of Griffiths Green Arnold said: “We are delighted to announce that Griffiths Green Arnold is to partner with O’Brien & Partners.
“We, too, have been looking for a suitable business partner to join forces with, and we are convinced that joining O’Brien & Partners offers the best opportunities in the long term for both our clients and staff.”
Both firms have been long established in the Welsh business scene and have built enviable reputation for service to the business community, particularly in the Valleys.
